Below you can read all the poems I wrote in May 2025. In addition to the poems below I also completed the Poetry Marathon 2025. Every hour, for 24 hours (though I did sleep and caught up afterwards) I wrote a poem inspired by a prompt provided by the organisers. You can read all those poems at

Poems and Paintings created for the Season of Creation which is a week in autumn.
Water becoming wine
Miraculous changes are possible
But most require commitment
Dedication and investment
To break down the brick walls
Of the accepted establishment
Perhaps I'm just day dreaming
Of possible new beginnings
But within this poet's garden
There are tiny seeds sprouting
As people hear nightingales sing
About new ways of living
Let's destroy the guillotine
Finding ways to save lives
Socially
Politically
Economically
Environmentally
Together in fellowship
Let our tears turn to power
Celebrating the possible
Encouraging the unsure
It might seem strange behaviour
But we can improve together
...
Humanity hurts
The planet that sustains life
Pure insanity

Letting go of stress
We journey into the woods
Nature repairs us
...
Earth Day
Love the Earth Day
Listen to the Earth Day
Stop destroying the Earth Day
Start working together for the Earth Day
All of my season of creation creativity is hosted by the Eco Congregations of Scotland

The rest of these poems are shared in reverse order, just because that's how I write them as I go through the month. Above you can see some of the paintings associated with the poems; you can find all the paintings at https://photos.app.goo.gl/vmvXV7HUVKvrcZmf9
Her gaze silences
Every doubt I hold too tight
Enchanted midnight
...
Silence
Is golden
Loneliness creates shadows
Quiet deepens pain's resonance
Loudly
...
We are the embodiment of love
Imperfectly blessed by grace
How do we forget so easily?
...
In warmth the walls of memory are built
Sun kissed bricks cradle joys soft and sweet
Each corner whispers tales of love unspilt
While shadows linger where old echoes meet
The drawbridge rises on the tide of hurt
A sturdy barrier against the night
Past sorrows hover like a sepulchral skirt
We shield our hearts with laughter’s purest light
Yet in these chambers dwells grace and pain
Fragments entwined in every heartfelt creed
Through cracked foundations blooms hope’s gentle stain
With roots that tap where souls are freed
Let us build anew with tender hands
Crafting sanctuaries from our shifting sands
...
Insomnia rules
Creating creative time
In silent darkness
Sleepless nights are no heavy weight
When I awake I create
...
Stain upon my heart
Memories linger like shadows
Time won't wash away
...
Discover shelter
Where your heart feels most at home
Always be yourself
...
Joy is a quiet visitor
Often obscured by stress
Yet persistently present
...
Just staying afloat
Daily keeping my breath calm
Whilst the world spins round
...
Yearning to relax
Without pain drowning your peace?
Write out your feelings
...
Hearts bruise easily
Friendships create fresh imprints
That last forever
...
On dark nights of the soul
Joy is a quiet visitor
A silent presence
Just out of sight
Perhaps caught in the periphery
Or sensed beyond understanding
She waits for us to be ready to greet her
A long lost friend to be welcomed again
...
Frost
Builds bitterness
Separating sunshine's sweetness
From friendships free flowing
Love
...
Life is beautiful
Filling the mind and soul
With joyful friendship
On difficult days
Emotionally and physically
Life can be painful
Wow this was a challenge to write, it's a reverse poem which means you can read it top to bottom or bottom to top. It might have been easier as a free poem rather than two haiku.

Jesus ascended
Hidden from the witnesses
By clouds of heaven
The Holy Spirit
Descended at Pentecost
Alive in the world
Celebrating Ascension Day
Acts 1:6-10, 1:12-14 and 2:1-3
"Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
...
Holding on too long
Desperate to retain youth
It's time to let go
...
Whisper
Though quietly
To your heartbeat
Never stop keeping on
Ever
...
Life throws challenges
Unexpected or wanted
Don't struggle alone
...
Kindness is priceless
The greatest commodity
We can all possess
...
Looking back in time
Wrinkles celebrate the years
Deepening wisdom
...
Whispering your truth
Subliminal succulence
Invites connection
...
Enduring love glows
Beneath bright flames of passion
Eternal embers
Eternal embers
Elongate time together
Enduring love glows
...
Fences require leaps
Of great imagination
Uncovering truth
...
Pain fences me in
With instruments of torture
No way to escape
No way to escape
Without imagination
Firing endorphins
Firing endorphins
Destroys the prison of fear
Pain fences me in
...
Woods at break of day
Bird calls sound along the way
Whilst grey squirrels play
But what did the bluebells say?
They're inviting us to stay
...
Don't fence people out
You end up fencing yourself
Out of new friendships
...
"Summer Love"
Blink and you'll miss this fleeting embrace
British weather dances with sunlit surprise
In the whispers of green where youthful hearts race
Moments catch like fireflies in twilight's skies
We gather beneath the shade of ancient trees
Laughing as raindrops glint with rays' warm touch
Our spirits ablaze in a soft summer breeze
This season so brief holds us close for a rush
Together we wander through fields wild and free
Every glance becomes joy was laughter takes flight
Hand in hand under clouds that trickle gently
Euphoria blossoms when day turns to night
Though autumn may come with its cloak chilly gray
We'll cherish our warmth until it fades slowly away
...
All would be equal
No judgement or exclusion
If I ruled the world
...
In twilight's grip fluorescent fireflies gleam
Their flickering bodies dancing through the haze
While water lilies sway to a secret dream
And bees beg for honey beneath the sun’s blaze
A fire warms my hands but burns my skin still
Daylight stretches boldly on the horizon line
Lilac blooms whisper sweet nothings that thrill
With endless chatter about how clouds entwine
The sky morphs in colours like wishes unmet
Sunset hues bleed into ocean's blue vast
A scar lingers softly, a memory beset
A reminder of fleeting days now long past
Here I stand beneath the vibrant night glow
Where fire and light mingle in ebb and flow
...
On long days of pain
Peace feels like a warm cuppa
Tea fixes most things
...
In silence where the heart's soft echoes dwell
Each breath is a tale that needs no voice to share
With every heartbeat a star ignites and swells
A fleeting light suspended in the air
The river hums its ancient lullaby
As worries melt like shadows in its flow
No need for words when stillness let's is cry
In quiet moments deeper truths will show
Through whispered thoughts within my restless mind
I find the strength to let the past descend
The currents carry burdens left behind
From darkened shores of sorrow we transcend
Please sit with me while twilight drapes our sight
In silent realms of solace we'll ignite
...
Cradle my heart in times of trouble
When life untethers the thoughts within
Hold me tight against the fears that double
Shield my soul from darkness creeping in
In shadows deep where clarity is lost
I search for solace in your steadfast gaze
Your words warm my heart from fearful frost
A shining light in the stormy haze
Though chaos swirls like leaves in a dance
Your whispered words weave comfort in the fray
With every heartbeat comes a second chance
The dawn will break and chase the night away
Please cradle me when anguish takes its toll
Together we'll rebuild the fractured whole
...
Sinking into the sun as uneven promises play
Watering the soul where dreams dance and sway
Swaying shadows whisper words of wonder
While trees converse in rustling surrender
Savoured sweetness drips from fragrant bloom
As we swim with stars under twilight’s loom
Weakness is woven tight into our seams
Yet springtime solace cradles hopes and dreams
In every heartbeat pulses fragile grace
Amidst the chaos finding a sacred space
Here at dusk's edge let worries dissolve
In nature's embrace let spirits evolve
Souls are soothed subtly by amber light
As stresses fade gently into the night
...
In the tapestry of life we weave our songs
Strangers gather as threads both new and worn
In love's embrace everybody truly belongs
Differences dancing like dawn through dewy morn
With open hearts we welcome the first and last
Each prayer a single note in life's grand score
Together we rise from fears that hold fast
Inviting change to hone what we're standing for
Harmony blooms when voices intertwine
In discord’s space is where understanding grows
A community built on inclusiveness' design
Unity forged in kindness as it flows
Let's create harmonics in each new symphony
For every story shared is a prayer set free

It's a long and winding path I tread
As tears fall endlessly blessing the ground
On lavender blossoms where dreams once spread
Petals holds whispers without any sound
One flame too many touches velvet skies
In twilight's embrace where shadows disperse
The nightingale calls in sorrowful sighs
Melancholy weaves through each verse’s curse
Yet even as darkness envelops my heart
Hope flickers like stars on this winding way
Through thorns and blooms that refuse to part
I linger in beauty at the close of day
For life is a journey wound tight with strife
A tapestry stitched by the threads of our life
...
Inquisitiveness
Loving learning all life long
From cradle to grave
...
In floriated meadows where joy often blooms
Beneath misty breezes infused with sweet grace
Pollinators fly patterns in nature's soft looms
I learn to find solace within this embrace
Afternoons linger as the sun kindly glows
Unclouded mornings summon minds anew
An assortment of softness in sweet stillness flows
The warmth of sun balm on skin kissed by dew
Whispers alight on a gentle caress
Topaz spills onto earth from a love laden sky
Day dreaming for secrets in moments that bless
I pluck words like blooms with thoughts soaring high
Your presence is Sunday both restful and bright
A hymn in this meadow where dreams take to flight
...
At sundown we meet
Unknown in the mirror of night
The day whispers silent secrets
Whilst the sun holds shadows too tight
I meet you in dawn's quiet embrace
Gathering morning dew in hopeful hands
Each drop a shimmer of grace
Glimpses of our future plans
Like sunshine on my hurting heart
Your eyes reflect the hopeful forever
In their depths I see cosmic rivers flow
Beyond invisible earthly tethers
Showers of stars light up the sky
As twilight curates our gentle dreams
Two souls dancing in an infinite canopy
Praying that life will be all that it seems
...
In the hush of May I dream in indigo
Of silent things that coax the heart to sway
A blackbird’s lament weaves through the twilight glow
Cross my heart and hope as night folds into day
These sacred whispers hide in shadows deep
Like secrets wrapped within a wildflower's bloom
Falling for life again I let my spirit leap
Taking great care not to break my cocoon
The essence of dawn with soft-edged grace
Sings into voids where silence finds its song
Tangled bluebells dance beneath hawthorn's embrace
While cresting waves call forth where dreams belong
Flower moon rises on high tender plains
In this fleeting breath it is hope I reclaim
...
Fairytales taught me
To compose myself perfectly
Instead of listening carefully
To the wonders and majesty
Of developing creatively
Whilst fighting for dignity
Of studying bountifully
And choosing pragmatically
Of campaigning constantly
And living life imperfectly
But I ignored all the fantasy
To be the best type of me
So I pass this on hopefully
Don't judge yourself harshly
It's time to accept yourself kindly

Darkest nights oppress
Vintage mornings fall from grace
As begonia skies
Bloom with summer hope and joy
Celebrating creation
...
Trampled underfoot
Unwary wildflowers
Sprinkle seeds of hope
Along highways and byways
Awaiting germination
...
Beyond the darkness
Tiny glints of light appear
Captivating sight
Unlocking inertia
Lifting deep seated despair
Dreaming hopefully
Of life without suffering
Where lovers of peace
Live together globally
Across false manmade borders
But when I wake up
We are living the nightmare
Of hatred and war

Sonnet for Dad and Sheila for their Wedding Day
In the tender glow of June you stand as one
Hearts woven tightly, bound by trust’s embrace
As whispers of hope arise like summer sun
You dance through time's vast and infinite space
Let worries drift like autumn leaves in flight
And weariness yield to laughter's gentle song
For every moment blooms with pure delight
As two souls journey where they now belong
Open your hearts to life's sweet serenade
Embrace occasions to eagerly explore
Weave a tapestry as yet unmade
Your future bright on each and every shore
With love your compass and nothing left unsaid
Hand in hand be blessed for years ahead

It's the greatest honour

Wondering barefoot

In incandescent light great joy we find
As ribbons dance softly on the breeze
Curly fries and laughter are intertwined
Gold chain linked memories remind and tease
Red hair blazes like a sunset prize
Filling big shoes with dreams great and small
Tiny thoughts spark a grand surprise
Countdowns echoing in time's long hall
Daisy chains create love from wishes and delight
Each fluff of dandelion whispering fate
Wherever you wake let your heart take flight
Under wrapping paper lies let life be great
Happy birthday darling may life bring peace
As candles burn bright let hopes increase

Conflict destroys the road to peace

As I go on a journey there's not much I need
(Apart from medication but that subject I'll leave)
I'll take lots of inquisitiveness and interest in people
Places and history both regional and local
I am bound to take photos to inspire future paintings
And words will pop up, travel encourages my writing
I'll leave home my judgement or sense of knowledge
Instead being open to the food that we'll forage
Of course I should mention that I'll bring along my wheels
Which might make it tricky but I'll still feel all the feels
This poem was written off the cuff for Phone Credit for Refugees

Memories buried
Under burning piles of time
Cerise embers glow

Alluring soulmates
Emerge from blackened remains
Of wretched heartbreak
Gentler truths outgrow the pain
Forging futures full of peace

Raising Awareness:
Chronic Illness needs Stillness
Every single day!
...
Chronic Illness Panda
Persistent pain and exhaustion
Anxious about the future
Never finding relief
Depressed at our situation
Always having to pace
Just hanging out in my broken body
Yes, I've tried positive thinking
My body is allergic to itself
Keeping on keeping on
Is it bedtime yet?

Moonlight mysteries
Sustain sun-kissed karma truth

Stir the fire in my heart let it blaze
A flicker doused by doubt's heavy hand
Embers glow in darkness through the haze
Such warmth lies dormant on the frozen land
Beneath the ashes of unspoken dreams
A spark waits patiently for tender breath
Invoke the flames until daylight redeems
Transform this stillness into life from death
With every whisper of hope's slow recall
Let kindling dance and break through shadows’ grip
For hearts ignite when love begins to call
To feed their yearning with a fervent sip
Stir these depths where lost desires gleam
Awaken all that's dancing in my dream
...
Lost or abandoned
Shells of our previous lives
Wait to be valued
...
When you find yourself internally trapped
With thoughts going round and round your mind
Remember that there's always a way out
But sometimes you need an obvious sign
So try to share what you feel
Your worries that keep swirling round and round
Don't let anxiety steal
Peace from concerns that might confound
This poem was inspired by Andy Gray's animated drawing

May you....
How would you complete this sentence?
Perhaps it could become a poem or a blessing.
Swipe to see some of my takes on it from a chronic illness perspective
May you feel valued
May you feel entitled to rest
May you find your people
May you be accepted as you are
May you never judge yourself harshly
May you have a wonderful day no matter how that looks
May you be happy even in ill health
May you find success in your endeavors
May you live a fulfilling life
May you be blessed with joy and peace
May you have the energy to rebel against discrimination and fight for your rights as a person

I have no time for hate
No time to annihilate
No time to condemn how others live
Let's love and not berate
I have no time to criticise
I'd much rather empathise
Because life is already tough enough
Let's try to be allies

Mountains dream of the earth's marrow
Savouring the rugged sweetness
Despite uneven water flow
Facing the sinking sun they show
Their perfect incompleteness

I love writing my emotions
So they no longer feel alone
They start connecting to other's feelings
Until together they are shown
To be essential for wellbeing
Now everyone feels known
