November Paintings and Poetry

Sharing some of the art and poetry I've created during November 2024.

These are in reverse order, with the newest at the top, so if you want to follow me through November you might like to start at the bottom. You can find these and more on my social media channels.

Amber Autumn surges with surprises

As brisk morning air stings sensitive senses

Fallen leaves full of dewy fragrance

Attract foxes to frolick in the fading moonlight

Nestled beneath blankets of morning sunbeams

Squirrels uncover a glorious discovery

Sentences unfinished call into the fog

Tiptoeing silently through unspoken memories

Midday beckons seasonal transitions

Whilst lethargic body clocks struggle out of sync

Barn owls gather morsels for teenage fledglings

Not worrying about anything that falls through the cracks

Late afternoon lilac skies

Summon suffering souls to stop and rest

Rebirthed in ochre painted treelines at twilight

Trusting that calamity won't find them in the mist

Silence descends as night falls upon the woodland

Anxieties put to bed held in autumn's hand

...

Pain is irrevocably in love with the dark

Taking advantage of the long silent hours

As dawn breaks, your words are a light in the dark

Lightening my heavy heart

Then, when the dam of grief breaks

You pull me from the water to safety again

Reminding me that I can still fight

Though it's also ok to accept what will be

On the days I long to hibernate

You whisper conversations into the void

And when yet another night approaches

You whisper a light of hope in the dark

...

I asked the stars for a sign

Whilst writing love letters to the sea

Attempting to express a life beyond words

Caught in a pain between ink and fire

The kindness of strangers brought comfort

With reminders of beauty in the ordinary

That although I may be unrecognisable to myself

Every door opens days not yet glimpsed

In the end we can not keep anything

Even our names will be forgotten in time

The truth is we are all un-becoming

Endangered animals on the journey of life

As I wonder what inheritance we'll leave

Long after the muses are silenced

We are reminded on the whispers of the breeze

It is love, love and love alone

...

Crooning in the womb of shortest days

November never seems to end

The moon promises to unravel lies

Yet under grey skies we suffer still

In the December doldrums we dream of spring

When blossoms burst forth with warm whispers

We pray with snow angels whilst winter waits

For frosted hearts to thaw on warming winds

As we skate on the thin ice of life

The long days stretch seemingly endlessly

Cautiously we glide through our precarious existence

Balancing senses between seasons

Beckoning bells start singing softly

Hailing holy nights WiFi heavenly hosts

Until silver spring light luminously lands

Promising to thaw winter’s icy breath

...

I'm sitting here again forcing my heart to beat

In a place where I hope the dark can't reach

Searching for glimmers of hope every day

Only faith can chase my fears away

...

"Craving Divinity"

Soft waves whisper

Beneath the watchful moon

Tides of crystals twinkle in the twilight

A summer serenade

An oceanic hymn sores

Alighting on warm waters

Every note a salty sigh

Each crest an echo of emotion

Lightning dances in my mind

Illuminating shadows

Holiness is found in ripples

In moments fleeting yet vast

I praise creative souls

Weaving truth through tides and time

Finding life in whispering waves

Craving divinity

...

Silent marauder

Not merely malevolent

Unsolicited

You unbidden invader

It is time for eviction

...

Unsettling sight

Within the mirror I see

Secrets revealed

Refractions of lost beauty

Without visibility

...

Within damaged soil

Ashes of life establish

Plantations of hope

...

Long forgotten dreams

Whispering at the edges

Standing tall again

Standing tall again

Despite years of challenge

Rare resilience

...

Twisting timelessly

Transforming tremendously

Tricky transitions

Truthfully turning trees

To tireless trajectories

...

Sojourner souls stop

Waiting without withdrawing

Contemplating cues

Contemplating cues

Colourfully changing shade

Timeless momentum

Timeless momentum

Eternally igniting

Leaf transformation

...

Endlessly waiting

For peace to come down to Earth

Perhaps one day?

...

It may feel as if everything is changing

Ending

Dieing

But despite the fear and anxiety

Amidst the grief

There is always hope

It may be only a glimmer

A blue sky on an autumn day

A kind word along the way

But when we let these moments simmer

They start to grow from a speck of light

Into a glow that warms the heart

Reminding us that change may be hard

But in that journey there is positivity

Even when it's out of sight

It still shines a light

...

There is an art to pain

Where poetry is the remedy

Providing honesty in a world without

A healing balm for hurting souls

Through rhythm and rhyme

The truth is shared

No matter how hard that is to hear

Or how worrying the message may be

Between the words

The spaces may create places to rest

Or they may shine bright with light

Inviting all to journey free

We can not turn from the pain

Or ignore the reality

We will meet the future in time

Within whispered words of poetry

...

Which hat do I wear

Sojourner or warrior

Only time will tell

"Be a warrior'

"Fight against your illnesses"

This isn't for me

Acceptance is my journey

Living as well as can be

...

On crisp winter days

Dandelion dust sprinkles

Natural glitter

...

Every plan we made

Floats across the sky amongst

Dandelion dust

...

As another night is interrupted

The familiar torment of insomnia settles

Creating a labyrinthian monster

An origami creature of anxiety

Stampeding around the mosaic of my mind

Whilst the world dreams on in the darkness

My brain whispers "who needs sleep"

Then louder "sleep is for the weak"

Before screaming "sleep is unessential for existence"

Then suddenly

From underneath the bed, a muse appears

Riding on a wave of pain

Awakening my subconscious

Tickling my creativity

Manipulatively

Imaginatively

Exhaustingly

As the hours tick by

The melodies start dancing

Though the music may be muted

The penguins are prancing

Unaware of the destruction they leave in their wake

Whilst I'm endlessly awake

Awake

AWAKE!

All these ideas are now swirling around

Searching for a place to land

They form a marching band

Marauding through the sleepless land

Their footprints shifting the sand

Beneath the sinking ship of sleep

Can anyone hear me?

I can find no safety

No place where pain won't berate me

Why can my body not see

How nice it would be to sleep

All I long for is sleep

To sleep

Doesn't even need to be deep

Just a little sleep

Where are the sheep?

...

Everyone that lives

Will never be forgotten

Love lives in others

...

In autumn

When the leaves are changing

It can sometimes look as if the trees are burning

And so I wonder

If change is actually an ending

A moment of a chapter turning

Then I remember

That we do not need to fear the ending

It is merely the start of a new beginning

...

When days feel never ending

With far too many variables

Leaving your heart in a shambles

Stop and Remember....

The map of life is still being drawn

Full of adventures yet to be glimpsed

Valleys and mountains draped with dreams

Are glistening just out of sight

Now is the time to hold onto future promises

Lifting your eyes above the current plight

...

Sighs shift beneath the rustling of russet leaves

Leaning against monolithic trees built of grace

Aquamarine waters float in clouds across the sky

Watching echoes lingering in this enchanted space

My anxiety becomes a fleeting delight

Bathed in topaz through fall’s amber embrace

The bittersweet sun dips low without a fight

Sweet apples waiting where shadows interlace

Volatile vorteces whirl with whispered fears

Whilst scarecrows stand as sentinel in storms

Sad songs drift softly from long forgotten years

Their melodies weaving warm for the forlorn

Under the indigo moon's gentle gleam

Life dances gently on hope within dreams

...

Scribbled emotions

Through effervescent ether

Connect wordlessly

Connect wordlessly

Sending hugs, love and prayers

Grateful for friendship

Grateful for friendship

Helping feelings to create

Scribbled emotions

...

Some days I feel physically confined

Restrained by my energy

Isolated from the best of me

Wondering what tomorrow might be

Yet I meet friends online

We connect despite geography

Enchanted by technology

Developing community

Across the miles, connection grows

Towering in understanding

As heart to heart we're sharing

Listening and caring

Some might say the online space

Is full of hatred where you're unsafe

But the reality that is clear to me

Is that goodness shines endlessly

...

Hope keeps lingering

Blooming between thorns of pain

Roses rebirth life

...

Blurry nights hoard fearfulness

Until the break of dawn invites silent confessions

Unloading anxiety

Allowing emotionality to flow

Without embarrassment or constraint

Ready for the day ahead

...

Whimsical whispers

Of leaves dancing in winter

Lifting my spirit

...

Whimsical tears

Grief dances as autumn leaves

Swirling through the storm

...

Tears at Midnight

Silently saturate sheets

Eyes sparkle at dawn

...

November nights draw

The inner fears of the soul

In lengthy shadows

In lengthy shadows

November reminds my heart

The dark invites rest

The dark invites rest

Hibernation is healing

A November gift

...

Temperature changes

Shock to autumnal senses

Seasonal flashbacks

...

A storm approaches

Facing the unexpected

Waves of emotion

Waves of emotion

Rolling then crashing create

A watery cage

A watery cage

Transformed with prayer and love

Invites reflection

...

Caught within a cage

Fearfully constructed

Calm brings new freedom

...

Autumn

The season of shedding skin

Whilst time slows down and days shorten

The stolen season

Shattering summer hearts

Whilst storing up hope for the weeks of waiting

Dusky dreams

Love the frost moon

Whilst storing up unfiltered hope

Lunar moths

Emerge from rust coloured remnants

Seeking the celestial chandelier

...

Selfish sunrises

Sustain natural rhythms

Sempiternally

Seasonal sensations seek

Stillness of eternity

...

Throw me to the stars

They are so much softer than the sun

Warming the very core of me

Without burning my soul

When the night falls

The lavender dusk obscures waxed words of loss

Heralding dreams of home

Wrapped up in nostalgia

...

The ache of almost everything lies heavy on my heart

Hope hides away deep inside and even joy starts to feel heavy

Until I spy a shimmer, a glimmer

A gentle reminder that all life begins in darkness

That scars become stories where hope takes seed

That the weight of carrying love and loss is never carried alone

None of us are alone, no matter how lonely we might feel

We are essentially connected

Fluently communicating into the silence whilst we travel the arc of grief

Until we find the end of this chapter

Before turning the page on the next adventure

Where the moon remembers everything whilst we sit waiting

The cost of becoming my truest self is discovered on that path

Where soft hearts share from their strongly rooted faith

There the ego melts away revealing layers of hope no longer hidden

Drawing closer to the self I held at a distance for so long

Until I meet the me I was always meant to be

...

Dr Who themed poems:

Doctor Who Time

And Relative Dimensions

In Space on screen

Across space and time

An incoming transmission

Hope always wins out

Imagination

Source of every solution

Making the future

Historical box

Bigger when you step within

Adventures begin

...

My heart is entangled with yours

Let's unwind together

...

You who caused pain shall be nameless no more

Your eviction notice is posted

...

At the dawning of the day, where shadows blend with light,

Poppies stretch their arms to cradle the sun's embrace,

Whispers rise in petals, a symphony of delight,

Healing whispers drift, upon soft winds' lost trace.

I long for a world where there is no war, no need for bloodshed

A time when the instruments of war are silenced

For a world where negotiation and compromise is heralded

Until then I pray for peace and shelter for the innocents

...

Desperately searching

Ever decreasing options

Survival at stake

...

Although we cherish democracy's face

There are days when the weight feels existentially great

When voices are drowned in chaos' race

And compassion seems lost to shadows of fate

In these moments when division roots deep

It’s hard to believe in a gentle resolve

Yet within every heart love still longs to leap

A quiet persistence that goodness can evolve

Hope is the anchor amid incoming storms

Bridges are built above tidal waves of fear

For kindness is stronger than persecutor's forms

Together we'll create a better future from here

Let us not falter, keep faith and hope bright

Humanity's goodness will rise from the plight

...

How would we keep ourselves together

If our home became a war zone?

If the skies split open with grief

Leaving the shrapnel of life on the ground?

Would we be brave enough to journey

Placing our footprints on unknown paths?

Each step a fearful hope in chaos

Rebuilding lives from the rubble?

What road would beckon us

Helping us move beyond our fear?

Would we travel lightly

Or try to hold on to all we held dear?

On who could we lean on the journey

Strangers speaking foreign tongues?

Would we learn to trust after trust has burned

Tentatively smiling into the silence?

As others do, would we hold onto hope

Clinging tight to stories and memories?

When comfort eludes us in darkness

Would we sing songs passed through generations?

If courage wears thin between breaths

Would we weave threads of love?

Letting it transform our survival into life

As we stitch ourselves back together?

In this tangled web of silence

Survival will envelope us with connection

We may navigate in fear

But we will still gaze upon the horizon

...

Through November I also shared a daily series "Lighthouses of Hope" which you can find here.
