March 2026 Poems and Paintings

Below you can read the poems I wrote in March 2026, accompanied by a selection of the paintings which accompanied them.

Dance across dark skies

Dreamy red, yellow and blue

Joyous Aurora

...

A door swings open, wide and bright

Then another to the right

Many paths, a dizzying view

Things to try, follow and do

Each offers experience, joy and gain

But all together they bring me pain

A quiet corner seems much more sweet

To rest my head and still my feet

Opportunities can be grand

But it's hard to choose from shifting sand

Often rest is all I crave

Simple time with trees or waves

Waterfalls of pain

Knocking on my soul again

I must not complain

...

Behind the mask my truth screams

...

Tripping and falling

Down memory lane again

In drizzly rain

In drizzly rain

Yellow flowers grow brighter

New plant buds spring green

New plant buds spring green

Transporting us naturally

Trees love visitors

Trees love visitors

Whilst water travels within

Teal moss vehicles

Teal moss vehicles

Cloud a misty reservoir

Climatic movements

Climatic movements

Stop generational growth

Change itinerary

Change itinerary

Sunny days at the jade inn

Stay and rest a while

Stay and rest a while

Nature is fraying but not

Tripping and falling

In dark velvet corners consciousness takes flight

Whilst shadows dance, whispering low

Echoes of myths obscure the sun's brightest light

As play time dreams vanishingly slow

A titan's tear catches a goddess's gaze

Hero's songs are heard on low windswept shores

Flitting through historic minds in a deep golden haze

They fade away, to trouble us no more

Fragments of friend's half remembered names

Bring longing felt for worlds we once knew

These spectral guests, though fragile in flames

Arrive and leave where the eagles once flew

Sleep now and let these fantasies roam

Till dawn arrives and calls us back home

...

How do you examine a black hole?

Would an autopsy suck us into it's void?

And if not, why?

If we discovered infinite blessings

Could we gather them and bring them back home?

Does the rule of finders keepers apply?

So many questions cycle through my head

Most impossibe but still I ponder what happens

In the unknown sky

..

How do we see the unseen black?

There are no eyes on any comets' back

We watch stars swirl in a dizzying dance

Pulled around in a cosmic trance

We would see the heat of a glowing ring

Where matter fights before it's hotly singed

As we vanish into the hungry hole

All secrets are lost within it's control

Could we do an autopsy when there's nothing there?

The table would vanish, from scientific stare

We'd fall inside on a stretching thread

No finding out facts, just a cosmic dread

Blessings infinite might ride that golden tide

Will "Finders Keepers" logic preside?

Knowledge is meant for all in an open lease

Not hoarded and hidden in that stifled peace

...

If I don't laugh I cry....

And when I do laugh I cry

Because every emotion is heightened

And this is the reason why...

The world seems to be ruled by despots

Fuelled by ego and greed

Ignoring opportunities for peace

Or helping those in need

Thankfully as a juxtaposition

Most people are turning the tide

To make our world much fairer

Let's all stand side by side

...

Cherry Blossoms Bloom

Treats for Busy Bumble Bees

Humming and Dancing

Early spring winds Rock and Roll

Confetti Blessings Around

...

Emerging from pain

White petals signalling peace

Long forgotten hope

Long forgotten hope

Love is never wasted time

Spring is expectant

Spring is expectant

Wrapped in the moss of despair

Budding with brightness

Budding with brightness

Borrowed light warms fearful hearts

Emerging from pain

Colourful nightmares

Precede darker delusions

As night turns to day

When will light emerge again?

...... 4 lines of a tanka. I already know my fifth line to this tanka, but what would you write?

...

Breaking camouflage

Anticipating supper

Where's it gone?

Where's it gone

Just out of your silky reach

Controversially

Controversially

Creeping through the undergrowth

Creating chaos

Creating chaos

Until stillness invites rest

Spellbound by spring calm

Spellbound by spring calm

Swimming in imagined rain

Blank space in my brain

Blank space in my brain

Refreshes my soul again

Curating fresh peace

Curating fresh peace

Demanding equality

Breaking camouflage

Stone sharp words scratch lips

Bitter pain staining the soul

Silence stings the heart

Silence stings the heart

Etching historic moments

Bleeding bitterness

Bleeding bitterness

Peacekeepers write love letters

Healing cosmic wounds

...

Fire horses dance

As dark catacombs open

Letting their light shine

Letting their light shine

As wilderness beckons forth

Whispered wisdoms win

Whispered wisdoms win

As softness reflects the moon

Fire horses dance

...

White flakes turn to rain

Grey slush where joy might have grown

Shattered dreams of snow

Whispering ancient echoes

Longing to be heard again

...

Your greed is poison

Destroying peace for money

Reprehensible

Reprehensible

Silent stars explode with hate

A crescendo builds

A crescendo builds

No one is free until all

Live without fear

Live without fear

It's the perfect antidote

To power's poison

...

Family recipes

Linger long after tasting

Do you remember

Do you remember

Harmonious gatherings

Recipes still fail

...

You can judge me but

You won't understand unless

You walk in my shoes

Don't whisper behind my back

That's bare faced hypocrisy

Progress not perfection

That's the process of resurrection

From any negative affliction

Or breakage of affection

It takes time to make inspections

And to answer all the questions

Of the unwarranted injections

That blind in rear reflections

Just stop a while and mention

That life needs a correction

Allow for disinfection

Before setting a new direction

...

After a restless night filled with fears of war, I awaken gently into the dawn, greeted by blackbird song. Whilst the world may be chaotic, he sings, I will celebrate each moment for the hope it brings. In a half awake, dream like state, I imagine these notes of hope dancing high on contrails across every morning sky

Songs of hope arise

Notes dancing across air waves

Blackbirds welcome dawn

Blackbirds welcome dawn

Singing for peace amongst men

"End the betrayal"

End the betrayal

Hear the voices of reason

Songs of hope arise

Long shadows linger

Promising miraculous

Miracles of truth

Love is labyrinthian

Resiliently resting

...

Belt of bright stars gleam

Shining upon dusty lies

Hunter's truth unseen

Hunter’s truth unseen

Within Saturnine laughter

Somber days of pain

Somber days of pain

Bombarded by cosmic fire

Wishing on a star

...

Holding up the sky

Generational purpose

Power deep within

Power deep within

May it be marching forward

Fighting for peace

Fighting for peace

In the wreckage of hatred

Lacuna blessings

Lacuna blessings

Balancing on lily pads

Fragrant blossoms fall

Fragrant blossoms fall

Confettiing peacekeepers

Holding up the sky

...

Illness isolates imagination

Agony avoids assignations

Mysteries mock minimal movements

Eroding essential empathy

Nuancing natural news

Obfuscating openness

Undermining usefulness

Goodness grows graceless gratefulness

Hypnotic happiness hails

..

Warming winter winds

Marching into March moments

Spring springing slowly

Muscle memory

Glittering and glowing gold

Privately painful

...

Castle walls stand tall

Protecting and sheltering

All who seek solace

All who seek solace

Shall discover peacefulness

Within starry skies

...

Light

Glints

Water

Reflects hope

Peaceful rivers bring

Blessings to all who drink deeply

.

Despite deep dehydration

Bodies recover

Healthily

When blessed

With

Water

Each bright dawn is a fresh new page

An opportunity to write a story

To embark on a journey

Yet it might feel that we are nothing

No more than a drop in a waterfall

Hopeless and helpless in the flow of life

Are the daisies and daffodils hopeless

Are the birds that sing on the wing helpless

No, and neither are we

Even when our reflections are broken

When we can't identify with our reality

We are part of the architecture of creation

We may bend or even break

But our souls will soar in love

When we accept our natural connection

All over the planet, every living thing

Is part of a created family

Longing to live in harmony

There may be pain and suffering

But weaving within there is love and hope

Innovation longing to evolve

Whenever something is buried

Any tiny part that remains

Will slowly reach up for the light

Even when our hope is out of sight

When our tears threaten to overwhelm

We can reach out for the hand of help

A hand extended from heaven

In every lamentable situation

God meets us and uplifts us in love

Not to miraculously save

But to reassure we are known and heard

As we pray for a world healed of pain and hurt

...

I see the merciless sea

Appearing calm as can be

But much like poetry

It is never carefree

Even when absentee

It moves internally

Waves breaking blissfully

Cover rips deceivingly

It thrives secretly

Almost invisibly

So despite anxiety

And with no guarantee

I embrace it sensorily

Fleetingly

Graciously

Repeatedly

Happily

As me

This is my first attempt at Skeltonic poetry, or "tumbling verse,". It is a 15th-century form characterized by very short lines (usually 2-6 words), fast-paced monorhymes (running a rhyme until it bores), and an energetic, colloquial tone. Popularized by John Skelton, it feels like a rapid "tumble" of words often used for satire, humor, and nursery rhyme like rhythm.

Nightly

Unstoppable fears

Summon magic doors

Where hope only survives

Heaven

...

Two seven word stories on the theme of "remorse"

Overexerted

Underestimated

Completely depleted

Full of remorse

.

Remorse resides in the space without hope

Sun beams through blossom

Shadows dance upon green leaves

Eyes perceive visions

Foreboding faces hiding

Or just a trick of the light?

My Eyes Observe From Afar

We will watch from safety

Witnessing those who fight wars beyond reason

We will be protected

Untouched observers of uninvited pain

Our eyes will cry tears

Filled with the grief of pointless injustice

Praying that those without peace

Find a way into the safety of God’s love

Where disagreement and difference are nothing

Compared to the love of compromise

As shown in the life of Jesus

And offered to all for all time

Inspired by Psalm 91

In your eyes I see reflected

All the years we've shared together

The newborn days when I couldn't look away

Baby smiles before the mouth upturned

Eyes always looking, pondering, wondering

Full of questions about to be spoken

I see the years of joy mixing with tears of hurt

A compassion deep within your heart

Those eyes looked like mine

And yet also your dad's

Though now we know them only as yours

Perfectly, wonderfully you

...

Glittering eyes blur

Obscuring prophetic dreams

Rainbows renew hope

Rainbows renew hope

Highlighting your story’s truth

Mourning still persists

Mourning still persists

In between each painful breath

Glittering eyes blur

...

Stars in their eyes

Sparkle and shine blindingly

Obscuring vision

...

My body tremors

Frustrated by feral men

Unraveling peace

Unhinged by the news

As auburn flames devastate

Wherever bombs fall

I won't be silent

Can't ignore warmongering

This is a flint box

Exploding in our faces

My marrow boils, we must rise!

...

Spring rain refreshes

Frozen roots beneath dark soil

New hope awakens

New hope awakens

Pearls form within lives of grit

Ever so slowly

Ever so slowly

But determinedly we join

Together fiercer

Together fiercer

We weave our wordless worries

Tears water fresh shoots

Tears water fresh shoots

As we whisper "Slay queen slay"

No one left behind

No one left behind

Rest in strength if exhausted

Trust your inner truth

Trust your inner truth

Winter of our discontent

Dawn welcomes our hearts

Dawn welcomes our hearts

Kaleidoscope rainbows shine

Spring rain refreshes

Sabotage anger

Obliterating hatred

Praying for world peace

Praying for world peace

Beyond magic solutions

Working together

Working together

Hear unsaid words on tongue tips

Silence is careful

Silence is careful

Discovering the unknown

Sabotage anger!

...

Kaleidoscope eyes

View hidden depths of wisdom

Imagined vision

The theme for International Women's Day 2026 is 'Give To Gain'

This brought me up short when I first read it because I never give so that I can gain, that's not giving, that is contractual. But then I read "a campaign to encourage a mindset of generosity and collaboration". Now that's absolutely something I want to encourage.

And so today I'm asking.....

Let's get together and create something powerfully beautiful

A more loving world

Full of peace and compassion

Across divisions

Would you like to collaborate with me?

Or... can I match you with a creative who might like to collaborate with you?

Or.... Would you like to do a poetry or art swap? Perhaps a few of us could get involved in passing on a piece of creativity to inspire someone else.

This isn't about professional writers or poets or artists or creators, though I obviously won't exclude you... this is for everyone. In these times of struggle let's all take time to be creative and share it with each other to see what happens in a generous and giving way.

Tag your friends who might be interested and let's see what happens. And yes, anyone of any gender can join in!

...

The world's subdued

Confusing dreams

Small things obscured

So much unseen

A colourful leaf

A ladybird bright

Lost by the day

Swallowed at night

But through the fog

A warmth shines through

A voice, a hand

And love so true

My heart can see

Though eyes may fail

Love connects

Beyond sight’s veil

...

The world's a blur

A hazy scene

Small things I miss

Details unseen

A tiny leaf

A spider's web

No sign of colours

Overhead

Yet warmth I feel

A gentle touch

More than seeing

Observing love

A friendly smile

A helping hand

Kindly hearts

I understand

Though details fade

Shapes' edges thin

Hope's shining light

Never grows dim

And in that glow

I truly see

The best of life

Still blessing me

...

Words bleed into ink

Crying the pain of the world

Timeless history

Timeless history

Heartfelt ink engraved on skin

Ancient tales unfold

Ancient tales unfold

Greed and power destroy peace

Words bleed into ink

I adore purple

I often feel blue

But inside I am red

I bleed just like you

...

Shattered dreams don't sleep

Sharp edges cut through the night

Wakeful silent pain

Wakeful silent pain

Fuels insomnia fires

Restless hearts seek hope

Restless hearts seek hope

Healing with kintsugi gold

As the new day dawns

As the new day dawns

Gardens of bones rebuild trust

Nourishing blossoms

Transforming under grey skies

Pink celebrations of life

...

Too blind to see lies

Yet with vision quite enough

To observe the truth

To observe the truth

Is to uncover meaning

Far beyond the words

Far beyond the words

Greed destroys dishonest hearts

Goodness shines brightly
