Below you can read the poems I wrote in February 2026, accompanied by a selection of of the paintings which accompanied them.

When the moon is silent
Waves feel a weariness
Deep within the watery depths
Mountains notice the pull
Disconnecting from earthly tethers
Women vibrate imperceptibly
Channelling natural sensations
Animals observe a shift
Pondering the potential meaning
All of creation holds it's breath
Unsure of future intention
Until moon beams dance
…
Claws as sharp as knives on velvet paw
A gentle touch that hides a deadly edge
Paper cuts sting deep defying law
No logic, such a small and biting pledge
The feline grace; a silent, subtle tread
A hunter's poise in sunbeam's golden light
Eyes penetrate hearts, the words unsaid
Reflecting secrets hidden from the night
A purring comfort soft against the skin
Playful swats are testing of your will
The love they offer, born from deep within
Can mend a broken soul, oh heart be still
A sense of peace despite the piercing gaze
Such wildness tamed in love's enduring haze
...
Finding sanctuary
Where stress can never touch me
Enveloped by peace
Enveloped by peace
Worries gently fade away
Soft quiet descends
Soft quiet descends
Blankets of snowdrops settle
Finding sanctuary
...
Fragile warmth appears
As future's gentle breath glows
Somewhere between hope
Somewhere between hope
Doubt starts to bury deeply
Soft light gently blooms
Soft light gently blooms
Eradicating darkness
Fragile warmth appears

Prose:
The heavy chill of winter is finally beginning to thaw as the first rays of returning sun touch the frozen earth. Bright yellow daffodils burst through the snow and ice, living lanterns that herald the arrival of the coming spring. Under the Imbolc moon, the world stirs from its long slumber to celebrate new beginnings.
Essence:
Returning sun rays thaw frozen winter chill
Bright yellow daffodils welcome spring as living lanterns
New beginnings awaken, celebrating under Imbolc moon
Haiku:
Winter’s grip recedes
Golden trumpets wake the earth
Imbolc light returns
Tanka:
Winter’s grip recedes
Golden trumpets wake the earth
Imbolc light returns
Frostbitten fresh shoots snuggle
Thawing ever so slowly
Longer poem:
Beneath the frost of winter's sleep
Where secrets of the soil run deep
The Goddess Brigid stirs her flame
And whispers spring's eternal name
The Imbolc light, though pale and thin
Invites the warming season in
A threshold crossed, a promise kept
While all the frozen world has slept
Now greening blades begin to rise
To meet the blue of morning skies
And golden heads, once tucked away
Awake to greet the lengthening day
The daffodils, in bright attire
Reflect the sun’s returning fire
They dance upon the thawing ground
Where life and hope are newly found
…
Drained by excitement
Exhausted by peopling
Rest is essential
…
Severed connections
Between my brain and body
Tender acceptance
Tender acceptance
Dressing wounds with compassion
Soft lights ease torture
Soft lights ease torture
Staring into the abyss
Promises of spring
Promises of spring
Sparkle with gossamer lies
Reflections distort
Reflections distort
Pauses that speak honestly
Stuck in the moment
Stuck in the moment
Still discovering freedom
Severed connections
...
First rays of spring warmth
Bursting through the frozen ground
Hopeful yellow joy
Hopeful yellow joy
Slithering through the silence
Whispering deceit
Whispering deceit
Awakens hopeful dreamers
Fresh perspectives shine
...
Cupid's arrows fly
Waiting hearts bloom into love
Springtime songs ascend
...
At the very edge of time we stood too near
The void, a whisper pulling us apart
Our fading hopes dissolving into fear
A hollow ache within our breaking hearts
But then, a fabric made of vintage love
Became a coat created from our past
Wrapping around us, comfort from above
Held us safe upon that edge steadfast
Faded hues of long lost memory's grace
Lined with laughter shared and tears that fell
Reflect the kindness on our weathered face
A timeless bond that knows us oh so well
Hand in hand we discovered a safer place
A haven to rest within love's warm embrace
.
The black void beckons
At the edge of emptiness
You never fail me
...
When sea shells whisper stories
Memories colour the ocean carpet green
Opening caverns of long lost loves
As coral wilts with whimsical energy
Evening love songs echo on the horizon
Summoning sinking ships sorrowfully
No longer do they journey searching for Eden
Only their letters float, in bottles destined for lovers
...
Persistence of grief
Echoing eternally
Inside a raindrop
Inside a rain drop
Discover luminescence
Love transforms the pain
Love transforms the pain
Lighting up darkest places
Stars shine across time
Stars shine across time
Sparkling within stained glass hearts
Hope grows quietly
...
Pink petals spellbound
Dancing in the freezing breeze
Blossom blooms early
...
Fire and stone may break my bones
Insomnia terrorises me nightly
Disturbing my tunnel vision dreams
Of being swallowed whole politely
…
I would jump for joy
But I'm only an angel
So I'll fly instead
...
Hearts forget to beat
Soft moonbeams captivate souls
Spellbound lives connect
Spellbound lives connect
Listening to the inner truths
Chasing the sunlight
Chasing the sunlight
From our shadowed existence
Whispered secrets shared
Whispered secrets shared
With the spirit of the trees
Hearts forget to beat
...
The art of togetherness is abstraction
Drawing tessellations
Dreamed within oblivion
Painted in silent devotion
Sculpted from breathless emotion
Danced by communities of desolation
Scripted by corrosion and erosion
Written by the broken creating a commotion
Sang as a quiet revolution
In this world of selfish domination
...
Warm, spiced, sweet inside
Crunchy protective topping
Love in every bite
Generously offering
Consistency each season
..... What is he?
...
I feel your great pain
Draining your body again
You can rest with me
You can rest with me
Reading books of greatest grief
Souls on fire with loss
…
You are not broken
You are surviving daily
That's more than enough
Thorns of tenderness
Pulsate within healing scars
Moonlight radiates
Silver linings shine
Just beyond your awareness
Trust in their glimmers
Butterflies find life
Fluttering in rainbow light
Imperfect beauties
...
Absence makes the heart
Desperate to reconnect
Perfecting love songs
Perfecting love songs
From ordin'ry miracles
Midnight reflections
Midnight reflections
Dance in the light of lovers'
Gentle offerings
Gentle offerings
Woven on gossamer threads
Rise in phoenix flames
Rise in phoenix flames
Smoking hearts of hopefulness
Sensing sorrows seen
Sensing sorrows seen
Carve hearts from ancient granite
Lost in silences
Lost in silences
Weeping wildernesses wince
Love slowly heals
Love slowly heals
Beguiling all who witness
Disillusionment
…
Crested Grebes cavort
Colourfully say "be mine"
Pond love languages
Silent communication
Celebrating spring's return
...
S is.... a series of haiku
S is for Swan
Swimming sublimely
Yet struggling to sustain
As stress suffocates
S is for Sleep
Struggling to sleep
Sleeplessness suffocates souls
Seeking some relief
S is for Space
Spaceships soar skyward
Sending space men and women
Shooting towards stars
...
The path unfolds, a mystery untold
Without a map to mark our every stride
No needle spins, no compass heirloom old
To steer us clear of dangers either side
Fears and doubts are heard on every breeze
Shadows dance where sunlight used to shine
Each trembling heart finds little inner ease
As worries build hiding meadows sublime
But time does pass and wisdom starts to bloom
In patient hearts who learn to heed the call
Of gentle voices breaking through the gloom
Who guide our steps long before we fall
Trust each step along life's journey long
Love will grow where you truly belong
...
Letters of long love
Still softened by timeless tears
Wrinkles map out time
…
Fatigue
Loves gently
Silent strawberry sadness
Refuses to play games
Acceptance
...
I long to run barefoot and wild on beaches
Jumping waves and skimming stones
Building castles of sand until the tide turns
Taking the temporary back into the sea
I long to explore where the willows whisper
Emerging into ancient woodland clearings
Where playgrounds are created from pure imagination
And words of hatred are silenced by birdsong
I long to spend days discovering joy and levity
Delighting in the distant cries of magpies
Swinging in the reality of nature's creativity
Until the sun sets as a hazy eternal sigh
I long to live out my days without expectations
Reforming and learning from every constrictor
Creatively overcoming any new limitations
Excited to discover what's round the next corner
...
We are the "sandwich generation"
Cheesed off with all our obligations
Our brains are pickled with expectations
As to do lists devour our limitations
We balance familial complications
Whilst coping with menopausal oscillations
And the loss of previous motivations
We can't even remember normal conversations
We long to jam to musical vibrations
But are expected to conform to regulations
To take charge of the societal frustrations
Whilst acquiring ever new qualifications
So excuse us whilst we make our preparations
For essential vacations and celebrations
We might try writing manifestations
Without giving you any justifications
...
Aware of feelings, yours and mine
Together now in space and time
Touching gently, heart and soul
Understanding makes us whole
Nurturing connection, strong and true
Empathy flows between me and you
Mirroring softly what's heard and seen
Each other's presence a comforting sheen
Now connected, a bond so bright
Together shining a shared love light
Inspired by the quote "the best thing to hold onto in life is each other" Audrey Hepburn but thinking about love outside of romantic love
…
Timber thickets tap
Sylvan whispers resonate
Tumultuously
Woodpeckers store oak acorns
Adorning autumnal aches
…
Faultines
Divide communities
Balancing conflicting truths
Hope heals
Cracks
...
White flakes softly fall
Glitter dusts the freezing ground
February sleeps
Ancient ant angels
Remember soothing snowflakes
Letters of lost love
Stillness settles souls
Calming clouds of confusion
Believe everlong
...
When the blanket of despair
Gets worn beyond repair
It's time to talk
When feelings overwhelm
And you just can't take the helm
It's time to talk
When the shadows block the light
And you're hiding out of sight
It's time to talk
When everything seems grey
And you need another way
It's time to talk
It's time to talk honestly
Candidly
Unapologetically
Openly
Talk to someone who listens
Without any judgements
It might be family or a friend
Someone on who you can depend
You could ring one of the helplines
Or send a text with just one line
I know it's anything but easy
I've been there, believe me
Reaching out takes bravery
But it's the start of recovery
…
Poetry feels like healing, soft and deep
A balm upon the wounds the world has made
It feels like grieving, letting sorrow seep
A gentle hand within the darkest shade
Poetry feels like loving, opening my soul
To whispers of tender sweet desire
It's sunshine yellow laughter taking hold
And lifting me above the burning fire
It feels like cherry red feelings burst
A vibrant pulse that rushes through my veins
A secret shared, a blessing and a curse
It washes clean the worry and the pains
A tapestry of truth spun fine and bright
Poetry feels like coming home to light
...
Tenderness blooms bright
Despite our persecution
Grace dances with hope
Grace dances with hope
Weaving within wet spring grass
Snowdrops seek brightness
...
Dark purple berries
Invigorate winter days
Juniper blessings
Juniper blessings
Balance on bumble bee wings
Gentle golden glow
…
Practice makes perfection
Accepting the need for patience
Though it doesn't weave naturally
Imagine baskets without limitations
Excesses exacerbate exhaustion
No more can I hold everything
Curating life more creatively
Each day I'll look out a little more for me
...
A silent seed
Unseen beneath the soil
Where dark desires take root and softly spread
No trumpet blasts
No caterwauling coil
Just hushed corrosion
Nurtured in the head
Evil's whisper
Creeping through the night
A subtle shift
A shadow on the gaze
It wears a mask of reason
Always right
And burrows deep within
Their heart's dark maze
No raging storm
No crashing thunder loud
But patient rot
A slow and steady gnaw
It poisons hope
Wraps love within a shroud
Disfiguring all
That once had worth and law
Keep listening close
For silence can deceive
And hatred grows
Where goodness can't believe
...
Stuck in stagnation
Boundaried by bruised beliefs
Fighting for freedom
Fighting for freedom
Desperation doubts darkness
Silent skies sing scars
Silent skies sing scars
Chasing away frozen fears
Exploring echoes
...
Cosmic Canons Catch
Crusading Church Curators
Chords Corrupt Calmly
...
Redirections Rile
Revolving Revelations
Reflections Risk Rifts
...
Oh, apple round, a ruby bright
A promise whispered, day and night
A doctor's frown, you turn to glee
A healthy life, for all to see
Each crunchy bite, a shield so strong
Against the ills that linger long
From common cold to weary bone
Your vibrant power is widely known
But tell me, fruit, so crisp and sweet
Can you a harder challenge meet?
Can rosy skin and juicy core
Keep politicians from our door?
Their grand designs, their endless schemes
Their hollow words, and broken dreams
Can apple fruit so sharp and clean
Protect us from the governing scene?
Perhaps, dear fruit, your worth is more
To build a world we all adore
Where healthy minds, with wisdom bright
Can choose leaders to light the night
...
Sweetness sustains you
Innocence a sticky trap
See the world anew
See the world anew
Do not stew without an aim
Apple of my eye
Apple of my eye
Let each bite empower love
Sweetness sustains you
