I was reading about Frida Kahlo earlier today and it inspired me to channel some of her colours and flower paintings.
I was particularly struck by the quote "I paint because I need to" which is very true for me, and has always been why I've written poetry as well.
I had no idea that Frida Kahlo was disabled and chronically ill, living with constant pain. Reading about her life and how similar it must have been to my own somehow helped me go deeper in the appreciation and understanding of her paintings.
